I’ve been really hoping to post more frequently here and feel bummed every time I forget to. I’ve gotten much better at journaling in real life (you wouldn’t think i’d be so bad at that huh) but I really like the idea of emulating that process more on this sort of platform—one where I can share photos and things of that nature. Not to mention I type a hell of a lot faster than I write ;)

With that said, things are on the slow (though still sweet) side right now. There’s something about that weird haze of time between winter and almost-spring. The days feel longer but still just as cold. I’m hoping things get warm soon—it’s something I miss about the part of the south where I’m from. The way summer time seemed to linger and glimmer through out every season in some way or another. I miss long yawning and sweltering days where the sunlight always knew just the right way to fall through the trees. Fingers crossed I don’t have to wait too much longer for it.

On a slightly separate note, I turn twenty two very soon! It actually kind of really snuck up on me this time, and not just in a “oh wow I can’t believe it’s already been a year” kind of way— I mean I actually forgot my birthday was coming up this month (because 22 going on 50 or something, y’know.) I feel really good about being twenty two, though. I felt pretty excited about turning 21 at the time because that really felt like the real deal, you know? I was married and moved out in a whole new state, things were just beginning and everything was a little crazy. it was an exciting and chaotic time and I loved it, but I’m looking forward to this year. I’m not sure how I’d really like to celebrate though, what do twenty two year olds do!? real talk: party’s are totally not my thing. However, eating everything readily available to me is always my thing and I kind of think food is the best way to celebrate anything. To be perfectly honest my favorite birthday of all time was my twentieth birthday; me and the dude plus some of our close friends had brunch (aka best meal of the day) out on the lake front followed by a several mile bike ride to one of my favorite oak tree covered parks + the beach and then ended the whole thing with some night time swimming. Best birthday ever. Sadly I won’t be able to do that, but hopefully me and the dude will figure something out! What’s your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?
